  • Rangers, Stall agree to extension

Defenseman Marc Staal and the New York Rangers agreed to terms on a contract extension, the Rangers announced Sunday after a 5-2 win against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Terms were not disclosed, but ESPN.com reported a six-year extension with an average annual value of $5.7 million, a full no-trade clause in the first three years and a full-no movement clause.

Has Marc Staal gotten back to 100% after the eye injury?

He might not hit the ceiling that was projected for him, but he's still a very reliable and valuable defenseman. Only Girardi and McDonagh log more minutes. In even half the time of the deal - 3 years from now - Staal will be a str at $5.7M.
