  • Kassian gets 5 games suspension

Vancouver Canucks forward Zack Kassian has been suspended for the team's final three preseason games and for five regular-season games for high-sticking Edmonton Oilers forward Sam Gagner during NHL preseason game No. 50 on Saturday, Sept. 21, in Edmonton, the National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety announced today.

The incident occurred at 18:33 of the second period. A double-minor penalty for high-sticking was assessed on the play.

Kassian's a chump. He seemed to grow up in his final OHL year with Windsor, and even made Canada's WJC team. Then he was drafted in the first round by Buffalo, and was expected to have some skill. The Sabres ditched him after 27 games with their club, and now he's nothing more than a fourth liner lucky to play 10 minutes per game.

As a Canaucks fan, the worst part is, he's not even a very good fighter for being 6'4.
