  • Ian Mendes done at Sportsnet.

Apparently he will be moving to The Team 1200. Glad to hear Ottawa radio is getting more reputable people to talk about sports.

I've always enjoyed Mendes. Seeing as it's now TSN Radio 1200, does he also start appearing on Sportscentre and TSN TV shows?

I'm glad he is on but the guy he is paired with is a know it all.

Shawn Simpson. Former scout and assistant GM for a few bad NHL clubs. He is a little nuts. Talks way too much and makes jokes far too often that aren't funny.

Great article, well written like all of Ian's stuff.

It sucks that we won't see him on TV but I certainly understand why and I'm glad he's heading to a better place with his family.

He will become the Ottawa TV guy for TSN and still keep his radio spot. I don't see how anyone at TSN reads this article and doesn't give the guy a TV spot that allows him the opportunity to do what he obviously loved.

Well written article, it's great that he can still work in hockey and go home every night.

If he took Brett Wallace's spot, wouldn't he still have to travel at least with the Sens, if not for other things?

True. Maybe a lighter travel schedule would be better for him. Just going with the sens on the road would not require too much traveling.

How do we know he's going to be doing TV at all? I thought it was strictly radio.

I don't think there's been anything of him going on TV yet. When I first heard the news I figured he'd eventually head over to TV, but maybe not. After reading the article I think his perfect gig is the TSN 1200 one he has. 2-6 every night, go home, enjoy.

Personally, I'll miss him on Sportsnet. It looks like he's been replaced by Shawn McKenzie (Bob's son).

Agreed, it seems to me like he'll stay in radio, at least for now.
