Wow ... what a season. This is the biggest comeback to make the playoffs under the current East / West conference structure.

      23-4-4. Unbelievable run.

          1. The number one reason the Sens made the playoffs ... Andrew Hammond. What a story. Mediocre AHL goalie, season lost, wait a minute. 20-0-1. Gave the Sens hope, shutting out the Kings and Ducks in California. Never got deflated. Could you write a better story?

          2. Dave Cameron. I had my doubts when he took over as the coach. What did he do differently than Paul MacLean? Aside from the obvious choice of keeping lines intact, he played the players that deserved to play most. Mark Stone and Mike Hoffman in the top six. Phillips healthy scratch. You have to give him credit.

          3. The kids. Pageau came through so many times and gave the team energy. Hoffman had 27 goals. Karlsson had a remarkable turnaround in his season. But most of all ... Mark Stone. Talk about putting your team on your back. Stone's play is already like a veteran's with his hockey sense. Amazing player. The emotion he's shown through this run ... you can tell he wants it more than anyone else.

I can't believe it. Thought the season was another write-off in February and then I was certain we were just ruining a better draft pick. And now a chance to play Montreal or Tampa (not the toughest of possible opponents let's be honest). This is legendary.

Could even be Habs then Bolts. That could well be a conference final ticket. We could cool down but what an opportunity!

                Yikes

I don't hold any ill-will towards Spezza, though. With that being said, he's starting to look like he might not be as great of a player as we thought. He scores a decent amount, but he's also a big reason for a lot of goals against. He didn't exactly make the Stars any better this season.

Interesting that the Rangers, Habs, Predators and arguably the Blues don't have a bonafide #1 centre (in my opinion).

I'm not upset with him either. I actually think the Sens are better without him. I might not have said that early on but at this point, its been proven that they can function very well without him.. It was time to move on.

Thing I'm most sad about is the lack of MacLean. What a character. It was time to part ways though.

Just an absolutely amazing season. Unbelievable. SO awesome to be a fan of this team right now. One thing I keep remembering is how ANGRY I was that Melnyk wouldn't spend. Well, I'll tell you what, it sure seems like a good thing now that we have just enough room to sign these guys!

Yep, it definitely seems like winning by committee is the way at this point in time.

Yeah, I was sad about it too but Brandon made a good point earlier in the thread when he mentioned that Cameron wasn't afraid to make the tough decisions, like benching veterans and giving young guys more ice time. We needed this, and we needed it bad.
