  • Victory Hockey League

Hello all! I wasn't planning on making this public and was just going to PM a couple people but on Josh's recommendation, behold and beware, an advertisement thread for another hockey website.

The Victory Hockey League. No, not named after me. It was formed in 2007, I joined in 2009. I have been in a moderator/commissioner/admin capacity there in some way since around 2010. When I joined it was Season 10, we are now finishing Season 42.

So, what is this? When I was thinking of how to describe this, I came up with two sentences:

    1. The basic premise is you write articles or make sigs and earn points to improve your fake hockey player.

    2. Basically, it's fantasy hockey and video games taken to an extreme.

It's a niche market no doubt, but I thought perhaps some of you here would be interested in it. I am available and willing to answer any further questions, I wanted to make this as quick and non-intrusive as possible. What I can say is it's not as time consuming as it may sound, I've managed to be active on both here and the VHL for now almost 5 years and that's by being considerably more active than you have to be over there.

I do get some incentive for recruiting so that would be an added bonus for me if anyone here did join - but that's not most important of course, I have had ample opportunity to do so.

So that's it, please let me know if it's something which appeals to you, if you have any questions or whatnot.

Yep, this looks really cool and Victor was gracious enough to ask my permission before even telling anyone about it. I plan on joining over the summer but if someone else decides to go for it right now I might do the same so I can share the experience as a noob with someone.

A few things about this current moment as a player creation date:

      1. It is almost optimal time in terms of having time to build a good player before your draft. That draft class is about 2 weeks old and not particularly deep so far either.
      2. It is also in the last week or so of me getting a better recruitment incentive. ;)
      3. BUT, you won't have a team for 2-3 weeks because it's almost the playoff final and then off-season. Just a warning, there's no further bonuses of being on a team or not.

Can I sign up now to give you your incentive even if I don't come back and really look into it for a couple weeks?

That's not necessary, but thank you.

Moved this to the Fantasy Hockey forum. Has anyone from here looked into this yet?

Unfortunately, I have less and less time to devote to stuff like this. I have trouble at times keeping up with setting my rosters over in the Keeper League. I think it's a really cool concept and I bet if you get into it, you get WAY into it but I just can't see myself having enough time.

It is now the ideal time to create your player as I mentioned to Josh and Brandon.

It's been a couple of years since Victor posted about the VHL and the league is still going strong. We'd love you to join or simply take a look and see if it might be for you.

The Victory Hockey League(VHL) has just started it's 54th season. Now is the perfect time to create a player and begin a career in this well run and obviously established sim league.

We have members from all over the globe including Germany, France, the Netherlands, Latvia, Australia and the obvious locations of the US and Canada. The VHL allows you create a player and guide him through a career as a professional hockey player, molding him to whatever playing style you like. You can do media or graphics tasks to earn points to add to your players attributes and spend your contract money on upgrades as well as participating in various bonus events during the season to earn extra points.

This is a great opportunity to join a successful player sim league and experience sim hockey from a players perspective.

To join simply click this link -> http://www.vhlforum.com/

When you have signed up simply go to http://www.vhlforum.com/index.php?/f...eate-a-player/ to get started.

There are useful guides and information to help you get started, located here -> http://www.vhlforum.com/index.php?/f...-member-guide/

My name is BOOM over there, and if you need any help or have any questions at all, just message me and I will do whatever I can to assist you.

If you have or know of any of your friends that may be interested, please pass the links along and I really hope to see you join this great sim league.

I just want to bump this thread! I see that Victor made an ad over here a couple of years ago. We have a recruitment drive going on right now, and would love to have a couple of hockey and simulation lovers over on our forum.

That link that Victor posted is the same website that is still currently is at.

Basically, you create a player, and he gets a set of attributes. In order to improve on his attributes, you do "Point Tasks". You can write a 500 word article on your player or anything VHL related, do a forum signature of some kind of graphic, or even do a VHL related podcast, and doing any of those once a week will get you 6 points to use and put into your attributes. There are other things you can do around the league as jobs to earn more points too, and even become a GM if you're a good candidate for the minor league or VHL.

It's pretty cool, I've been there for years now, using the name DollarAndADream. If you create a guy, you can use me as a reference if you want to.

This place is also still somehow running btw (I took a bit of hiatus from it too in 2017), if anyone wants to try something different. Quite amusing the two posts above this one, I know the two guys over there but had no idea they tracked this place down lol.
