  • Brodeur named assistant GM

The St. Louis Blues were NHL goaltending legend Martin Brodeur’s final stop as a player, and after the same organization named him assistant GM and signed him to a three-year deal, the organization remains his only stop as he continues a management career that began last season.

Wow, didn't expect this to happen is St. Louis rather than New Jersey. It would be like Alfie taking a management job in Detroit.

I'm wondering if this is a situation of Brodeur being slightly soured on New Jersey forcing him to go elsewhere to play his final games? I mean, if you knew you could have Brodeur in management if you just let him play a couple more games, I wonder if NJ's decision changes?

Yeah, I think this is definitely a factor. Brodeur has always been a proud man, and rightfully so.
