    Daniel Alfredsson named Ottawa Senators senior advisor of hockey operations

    The Ottawa Senators have named former captain Daniel Alfredsson a senior adviser of hockey operations, the team announced Thursday evening.

        Could definitely see him taking on a bigger role in the coming years. Exciting for him to be back, and will be interesting to see what kind of role he actually plays in the short term, or whether he'll just be more or less an ambassador; and whether the fans will get any kind of real insight into this.

          From the press release it looks like he'll be doing a little bit of everything. They specifically mention player development and scouting.

          I could definitely see him being great at player development. Players like Alfredsson (Karlsson and Stone as well) think the game so well ... I think he'd really be perfect for that.

          On a side note, it's amazing how much Randy Lee has turned hard work into promotions. I believe he started as a trainer or something low like that, eventually worked up to video coach, and now he's the Assistant GM of the team.
