  • Game 1: Senators @ Sabres, 7:00pm

    - After four long months, Sens hockey returns tonight.

    - The Sens come into the season as a pretty big question mark around the league. One of the youngest teams in the league, the Sens were an elite team in the second half of the season. Will that continue?

    - No Senator is under as much pressure as Bobby Ryan. Coming off a new contract extension, Ryan had a relatively disappointing season with 18 goals, 54 points and a career-low 8.1 shooting percentage. He will have to improve if the Sens want to be a good team.

It doesn't take long for the Sens first goal of the season - 30 seconds, and it's Turris. Hoffman and Stone with the assists.

Pretty good period. I like the lines. Pageau has a lot of untapped potential, IMO, so it's good to see him with some offensively talented players in MacArthur and Michalek.

Robin Lehner is leaving the game ... a harmless looking play takes him out of the game. Not good to see.

Sens score, Turris from Hoffman and Stone. This isn't a double post.

Mark Stone reminds me so much of Alfie it's scary. Turris has the goals but Stone's driving that line.

Couldn't agree more. I didn't have many doubts about Stone producing well this year (Hoffman, perhaps). He's just too smart and does too many things right.

The scary thought is how good he can be this year. I don't mean to get ahead of myself, but he was the fourth highest scorer since January 1st.

Turns hits the post on a great scoring chance. It would have been his first career hat trick, and a very nice play set up by Hoffman and Stone. That line is going to be good this year.

Eichel and Kane get two quick goals and we're tied.

Sens have used the coaches challenge rule and challenged the play for offside

The coach's challenge was successful. The goal was waived off as the Sabres went offside. The game remains 2-1 Sens
