  • Game 35 @ Panthers

I have bad news and worse news. First the bad news: Ottawa's projected lines and pairings. Don't even look them up. They are too depressing. It's bad enough we'll have to watch the game. Dzingle in; Ceci, Ryan, MacArthur, Michalek out.

The worse news? Florida is a lot better than a lot people think they are. They lead the Sens in the standings by one point in as many games but that doesn't tell the whole story. The Panthers have a better powerplay, better penalty kill, and better goaltending than the Sens so far. They naturally allow fewer shots and fewer goals. The only things Ottawa leads in (besides hits/blocks) are goals and shooting%. Florida actually has exactly as many (953) SOG as Ottawa. To me the craziest number (and remember the Panthers have the advantage in PP and PK) is that Florida has had exactly as many powerplay opportunities for (113) as Ottawa has had against. On the flipside, the Panthers have had 106 powerplay opportunities against and the Sens? 106 for. The Sens still lead/trail the league in shots against at roughly one million.

Anderson will have to steal this one. Luongo will have a much easier go of it tonight so I hope everyone is wearing their lucky socks.

Owen you make the best game day threads. In a better world, I would pay you to make them.

The last sentence of your first paragraph is gold.

Those PK/PP opportunity numbers are uncanny.

Anyone wanna bet that the for/against numbers won't match anymore after the game?

Every team in the division except Florida lost last night so Ottawa should be exhaling big time.

Anderson was the whole team last night.

Ottawa should trade for: Bobby Ryan, Clarke MacArthur, Milan Michalek, or Cody Ceci. Those guys are pretty solid. They'd look good in Sens jerseys.

Forgot to mention, Dave Schreiber on the radio and Dean Brown on the teletron was pretty great.

Dean Brown was the sole reason I continued to watch the game last night. Man I miss that guy.

Craig Anderson...dude's a machine. I can only imagine how frustrated I would be if I played goal on a team that defended as poorly as the Sens have.

I mentioned on another thread, Cowen out, cardboard cutout of Chris Phillips in. After last night, I'd be willing to go to the cardboard company myself to make sure it got to the next game OK.

You'll need one with each jersey. Also, does Turris lose his 'A' if cardboard cutout Phillips has one? What's cardboard cutout Chris Phillips' cap hit?

Actually, 3 counting the black O jersey. Maybe I can get a Velcro arrangement...

Cap hit for cutout Phillips is another plus over Cowen - $0.

Hell guys, with the way we play on the PK as opposed to ES, we might as well just go without a player whenever Cameron would have put Cowen in.

Yeah, but at least cardboard cutout Phillips is a presence on the ice...another advantage over Cowen.

                    Honestly, these write themselves...
