Sens lost 3-1.. Detroit had an empty netter, but Ottawa didn't score until the final 3 minutes. I think they went 0/6 on the PP before scoring their lone goal in the dying seconds of a 6-on-4. Dion had a really good game - he can carry the puck, make a great outlet pass, and hold the blueline well. His outlet pass is so good that you could tell it caught a couple recipients by (pleasant) surprise to suddenly find themselves with the puck on their stick. He carried the puck out of the zone in a way that made me unable not to think "Cowen couldn't have done that in a million years". Smith scored the only Sens goal - his 3rd in as many games.

Andy had a good game statistically, Sens gave up less than 30 shots against, killed all penalties, PP was a dud but I credit Detroit for their aggressive killing, EK and MH add to their point totals, I ain't mad.Comment

Phaneuf was solid. I still had moments of panic watching him, but I attribute that to the #2 on his back. Really, he should have picked a better number...
Detroit were simply better last night. I appreciate Ottawa kept it close (thanks Andy) on the road and really we were never fully out of the game until the late empty net.
Powerplay is going to take time to get used to Phaneuf as an option. He doesn't move the puck like Karlsson/Ryan/Hoffman/Turris. He's a cannon. Position him accordingly and let him blast away at the net.Comment
