I'm not one of the people holding onto hope for playoffs in Ottawa this year. But if the team wants any chance, they pretty much need to go 3-0 on this road trip.

A goal from Nick Paul (Wideman & Lazar), halfway through 1st, gives the Sens a 1-0 lead. That is the score after the 1st period.

I think Paul is going to be a solid player for the Sens. I think he might have more potential than Shane Prince at this point.

Here's the replay of his goal (his 1st in the NHL):

              Sens take it 4-1

Zack Smith continues his hot streak with a goal and a beautiful set up for Chiasson. His 15th goal of the season is a new career high.

That was the perfect road game. Game was in the balance for maybe 3 minutes at the end of the second period, otherwise Ottawa just plain dominated.

Paul-Lazar-Neil was money all night. Also with a great game was Chiasson. I wish he'd just skate that hard every night.

Safe to say that right now Ottawa's depth scoring is keeping the team afloat. Early in the season everything was Hoffman, Stone, Turris, Ryan, Karlsson and then the opposition got the memo. Now that Wideman and Ceci are putting up points and the bottom six is outscoring the banged up top lines, Ottawa's looking slightly more difficult to defend. Phaneuf has certainly contributed and you know Craig FUCKING Anderson is God.

Forgot to mention Wideman, he was on fire last night, especially early on.

Solid deal. One way for Wideman is key. Big vote of confidence in him having earned a spot on the NHL roster.

The team does look a lot different in the past 4 games. One thing I noticed at the Detroit game was how much harder on the puck they were defensively. Phaneuf has really solidified the top four, and Ceci is playing really good hockey. It seems like everyone is buying into the system, and we're getting scoring from our depth players. It's going to be an uphill battle, but can this team pull off another miracle?

It's ridiculous how much better our defense is with Phaneuf instead of Cowen. I mean, we're still not a fantastic defensive team but the improvement is obvious.

It seems that adding Phaneuf and/or shipping out dead weight may have also motivated the players.
