Colorado Avalanche goaltender Semyon Varlamov has been arrested on domestic violence charges, according to reports.
The Denver Police Department announced that the netminder had turned himself into authorities voluntarily on Wednesday, and that a police spokesperson would be speaking on the matter later on in the evening.
The Avalanche released a statement as well. "The Colorado Avalanche is aware of the allegations concerning Semyon Varlamov," they said. "At this time, and until the conclusion of the investigation, the Avalanche organization will have no further comment on this situation."
Varlamov, 25, is 7-1-0 with the club this season, and perhaps the biggest reason for their fast start. They have 10 wins in their first 11 games. His .945 save percentage and 1.76 goals-against average have him among the NHL leaders in both categories.
