Man, the Western Conference matchups are all amazing! Every single one could go either way. I've got Dallas edging out Minnesota, St. Louis "upsetting" Chicago, Anaheim advancing over Nashville, and LA over San Jose. Then I see St. Louis defeating Dallas and LA defeating Anaheim, with St. Louis making it all the way to the Cup Finals.
The East is a little less close, but still features a bunch of great matchups. Washington might actually struggle against Philadelphia, who should be extra motivated with the passing of Ed Snider, but the Capitals should ultimately advance. Pittsburgh and the Rangers is another huge matchup, but with the injuries the Rangers have (McDonagh in the Playoffs again?!) I've got to give it to the Penguins, finally setting up a huge Playoff matchup between Pittsburgh and Washington, which I think the Capitals will win. I see the Islanders defeating Florida, but not as easily as some may think. That series could go 7 games. I see Detroit advancing over Tampa Bay, again largely due to injuries. I think Detroit then squeaks out a win against the Islanders but ultimately fall to Washington in the East finals.
Washington wins the Cup in 7 games after an amazing series VS St. Louis.

I actually think the West will play out predictably.
Dallas - Minnesota is the only series that isn't completely obvious, in my mind, and even then, it's pretty obvious. Dallas has problems with defense, but Minnesota snuck in with 87 (!!!) points.
LA will do their thing, as will Chicago. Anaheim has been the hottest team in the NHL since the midway point.
I don't think Dallas stands a chance in the West after the first round. LA/Chicago/Anaheim will end their season. The only question mark is whether the Ducks can take one of the Hawks or the Kings, which I think they can.

The East doesn't have great matchups, IMO. Penguins - Rangers could be interesting if Lundqvist plays great. I think Washington will make quick work of Philly, Detroit - Tampa is a crapshoot, and Islanders - Panthers could be interesting
I agree, though. Washington - Pittsburgh is inevitable and will be the best series of the playoffs.

Brandon, you really think Chicago will just walk through a relatively healthy St. Louis club? I know they don't have a great Playoff history, but unless they're taking pages out of the books of the San Jose Sharks, this has to be the year they go deep. Of course the Chicago matchup is terrible for them, but St. Louis did take the season series 3 games to 2..

Seems like there's a pretty big problem with the Coach's Challenge in peoples minds.
I agree that sometimes it's annoying. It drags out the game and the call ends up being inconclusive. But honestly, I'm happy it's in the game now. The same people who are complaining about it were probably complaining that their team lost a game due to a missed offside call.
I think it's also funny how the fans and media demanded things like coach's challenge and 3 on 3 OT for so long, and then when it doesn't go as smoothly as expected, everyone blames the league and states how ridiculous they are for adding it.
I support all of the recent league changes, except the puck over glass one. I think that should just be a face-off in your end without the option to change your lines.
