Not surprised Toronto won. At least it wasn't Edmonton.

12th puts the Sens on target for Jake Bean.

Of the players ranked 12 and later, my three favourites are Logan Brown, Julien Gauthier, and Max Jones.

Interestingly enough, Friedman felt like the Sens would go for a big centre in free agency that could handle some of the other big centres around the league. The Logan Brown pick fills that in a long-term sense.

After watching the U18s, Tyson Jost is the player I'd be the most excited about drafting. Of all the players ranked around 10-20, I think he's the one with the biggest upside.

Max Jones would be cool. I've seen Jake Bean play in person a couple times and I'm amazed at what a complete defenseman he is at that age.

Also watch some team take a chance on Keller in the top 15 and end up with an 80 point player.

This is actually going to go down as a top draft class, despite the lack of hype. Laine and Puljujarvi could both be worthy of #1 but probably won't be, Dubois and Tkachuk could easily be top-three, and Sergachev is going to be the biggest steal of the first round - maybe of the entire draft. That's not to mention Matthews, Nylander, Chychrun, Juolevi, McLeod, and Stanley - and, as already mentioned, Bean, Brown, Gauthier, Jones, Jost, and Keller.

Yeah, it's going to end up being seen as one of the better classes of the decade I think.

I do think it will be an above average draft, at least in the first round. Really hoping Sens can get Tyson Jost, but I think he'll by gone by 11, especially since we know New Jersey's GM, Ray Shero doesn't shy away from the BCHL in the first round.

I didn't do a mock draft for the whole first round, but I made sure to do up to 12 at least, and the way I have it figured, Sens should take Charlie McAvoy.

I think the first 22 or so will go very similar to this:

                Auston Matthews
                Patrik Laine
                Jesse Puljujarvi
                Matthew Tkachuk
                Pierre-Luc Dubois
                Alexander Nylander
                Jakob Chychrun
                Olli Juolevi
                Mikhail Sergachev
                Logan Brown
                Tyson Jost
                Jake Bean
                Michael McLeod
                Logan Stanley
                Clayton Keller
                Max Jones
                Julien Gauthier
                Charlie McAvoy
                Luke Kunin
                Dante Fabbro
                Kieffer Bellows
                Riley Tufte

Juolevi goes 5th to Vancouver, they leave Tkchuk to sit. I think that's a mistake. The Canucks have been making bad move after bad move lately..

I don't mean to take away from Juolevi though. Definitely a great talent.

Coyotes go "off the board" with Clayton Keller 7th overall. Could be a good long-term investment, but won't make any returns for another year or two certainly.
