The Arizona Coyotes made history Thursday, hiring 26-year-old John Chayka as the youngest general manager in professional sports history and entrusting him with charting the direction of the rebuilding franchise. Chayka, who will turn 27 in June, is a few months younger than Stan Kasten was when he was hired by the NBA's Atlanta Hawks to be their general manager at 27 in 1979. Kasten is now the president and owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers.
