  • Glen Healy, PJ Stock, George Stroumboulopoulis are history.....

This is Healy’s dismissal from HNIC, part of a purge that included host George Stroumboulopoulos and six other on-air personalities as well as a number of behind-the-scenes workers. It’s a far cry from the environment that existed two years ago, when Rogers Communications paid $5.2 billion for Canadian hockey rights away from CBC and TSN. A transaction that was so filled with optimism and change has been a disaster almost since Day 1, with Rogers sustaining losses in part because of the poor performance of Canadian teams. And the product has had its share of critics, many of whom were not shy taking to social media to express their displeasure.

I'm clearly in the minority, but I actually liked Strombo. I think no matter what direction Sportsnet went after they got the NHL rights, the general public would not have sided with them.

However, I'm happy to see Glen Healy and PJ Stock go. Well, as happy as I could be. I don't usually watch their intermissions and I find neither really cover the Ottawa games that much.

I didn't mind Strombo actually..can't say I disliked him to want him out of the picture. He did ok, IMO. As for Healy, can't say I'm surprised he was canned, he didn't appeal to most NHL fans who watch HNIC.

Other than Ron MacLean, can't say I care who's there or not during intermission...................as for Play by play, when is Bob Cole gonna retire?
