  • Bolland to have surgery

VANCOUVER - Toronto Maple Leafs center Dave Bolland will have surgery Saturday night after the back of his left leg was lacerated by the skate of Vancouver Canucks forward Zack Kassian in the second period of their game.

Coach Randy Carlyle said after the 4-0 loss the cut was similar to the Achilles injury suffered by Ottawa Senators defenseman Erik Karlsson last season. Karlsson missed 10 weeks.

I doubt the Leafs would rush Bolland back after that injury like the Sens did Karlsson.

I'd be surprised if Bolland is back in 10 weeks. The Sens doctors gave Karlsson the green light to play..they knew he wouldn't an amazing player for the Sens when he came back at that point but they knew it wouldn't cause any more damage for playoffs. The Leafs will be able to rest him for a bunch of time before the playoffs.
