  • Sens reach deal to bring Bingo to Belleville

The Ottawa Senators are bringing their prospects closer to home. Senators owner Eugene Melnyk confirmed Monday morning at the Yardmen Arena that the NHL club has purchased the ownership of its AHL affiliate in Binghamton and the team will begin play here in 2017-18.

Belleville is actually closer to us than him. Isn't he in Kitchener?

True. But Belleville is still closer to him than Binghamton and Ottawa ;)

This is a good move for the Sens organization. It gets Sens fans a lot closer to the team and easier to monitor, and also gets the players closer and cheaper for call ups.

I went to a game in the 2011 Calder Cup Finals in Binghamton. The arena sucked and the city wasn't anything great, but they have a passionate fan base. I was told they'll get another team, so lets hope that goes through and the fans dont lose out.

I'm definitely in to attend a game or more when they settle into their new home. :-)

It's still a 3-4 hour drive depending on the 401 that day. If anything, no border crossing is the attractive part of this.

I need to get back to Ottawa soon. Maybe when the new stadium opens up.
