This is a good move for Calgary. Horak is a decent pickup for Edmonton, and actually could fit immediately onto the Oilers' third line. That wasn't the case in Calgary if it wasn't for injuries to their better forwards. But a guy like Smid - experienced, responsible, and tough - was desperately needed on the Flames' defense ranks. Calgary still hasn't been able to replace Kiprusoff, they need to get a better goalie behind that d-corps now.
