guess who got the Sens goal? Bobby!

Sens fall 4-3 to the Sharks in a shootout.

Highlght of the game was Boucher sending out Chris Neil as the fourth shooter. He had a pretty sweet move but Jones made a good save

I turned to watch the game but got pulled away at least 4 times tonight.

They played a lot better than they did in Anaheim. The PK was amazing - I think the Sharks finished the night 0/7 and one of those were a 5 minute major.

Vlasic seemed to spear Karlsson up high and it was missed by the refs. This caused Turris to go after Vlasic and get 17 minutes in penalties as the instigator rule came into play. Hoffman got ejected from the game for cross checking Couture up high, which also took Couture out of the game.

Sens goals were from Ryan, Turris (amazing play and setup from Stone) and Phaneuf (amazing play and setup from Karlsson).

Unfortunately the Sens just didn't get the bounces or calls tonight. The Vlasic spear resulted in a Sharks powerplay and Turris missing pretty much the entire third period. Their third goal was a really fortunate bounce. The game went to the shootout and none of the Sens shooters got it done.

Looks like it was a pretty good one. The Sens actually outshot the Sharks and nearly matched them in hits. The Sharks an insanely talented team. Holding your own with them is an accomplishment.

Karlsson to Phaneuf was just sick. Burns' power move (poor Harpur, lol) deserves mention too.

Nice, thanks for this. Wish I could have seen that five-minute kill!

That 5 mins kill was even better live - OT was so so... and the shoutout was also so so.....

All in all, They played well considering it was their 1st game back from a road trip. One can tell Neil is really appreciated by the fans. When Boucher put him in for the shoutout, the entire crowd got up, cheered and waived the towels made for the special event. Great night to be there.

On a side note, I was sitting about 5 rows from the ice and Thornton and Burns look like beasts out there. They are fucking huge! And their beards have a life of their own. I think some animals could live in there.. loll

Just to rub it in some more, the 5 minute kill also included a SJ goal that was successfully Coach Challenged due to offside which couldn't have been any closer. It really was a hell of a kill.

Which leads me to Hoffman's hit. I'm not sure it was "intent to injure", the stick looks like it slips up to me, but honestly I'm not sure I care. The NHL can't allow players to cross-check each other in the head, accident or not. If Boro got 2, I expect at least 4-5 for Hoffman.

Also, Owen back me up on this, we need Anderson on this team badly. Easily the Senators MVP this year.

Anderson always kills it in the shootout. Not a huge deal but he steals a point from time to time. Condon has been fine. But when you're not a strong possession team, you need better than fine goaltending.

One thing that I found really remarkable about last night: it seems that restedness/tiredness actually tipped the scales the way you would expect them to (good for Ottawa, bad for San Jose). I know Jasmine alluded to the 'trap game' after a roadtrip that we were all expecting. Ottawa always feels like one of the reverse-split teams that struggles when rested against a tired team. Just an observation.

It looked to me like his arm was hooked/lifted by a San Jose player which caused his stick to end up a lot higher than intended. I think he'll get 1 or 2 games

                      Never had a chance hahaha

Ceci wandering towards the puck leaving Pavelski all alone was a perfect summary of his season.

I'm terrified because I know this team values Ceci more than Wideman despite the latter's success. It hurts my soul.

I mean, Condon is a backup so I can't expect the same levels of performance, but dude was swimming laps out there last night at times. I definitely feel there was an element of luck in staying in the game as long as we did.

To your other point, yes, the Sens in general seem to suffer less on the second half of back-to-backs than most, and in return after longer breaks can be very rusty.
