Here's some thoughts on the game. I watched it pretty closely:

                  - I thought Kane was the best player on the ice. I think he finished the game with two assists and Karlsson was able to break up a couple plays that could have easily turned into another couple points if it was any other D.
                  - Phaneuf was noticeable, to say the least. He was definitely a difference maker in the game and we saw both sides of Dion ... the good and the bad.
                  - I thought the refs were really bad. Methot got 'tripped' when it didn't really look like a trip. Phaneuf's hold was a terrible call. The penalty shot call was also very borderline - as the announcers pointed out, both could have gotten an infraction. Ceci's penalty was also kind of head-scratching for me. And in the final minute, Seabrook ran a blatant pick on Pyatt which wasn't called.
                  - Funny enough how goal scorers work. Ryan had 3 goals in his last 38 games, and now has 4 in his last 4.

Another thing I didn't realize - the Bruins lost today. The Sens have four points on them and a game in hand now.

I'm bummed that Anderson didn't get to play in his native state but that was a cool homecoming for Dzingle.

Did I see Erik Karlsson box out Johnathan Toews in the crease during the dying moments of a one-goal game? I thought the Norris was for the best all-around defenceman? ;)

As long as Karlsson stays healthy (other than the Cooke freak injury, when has he been injured?) I think he's got the Norris in the bag. Assuming Ottawa holds on to a playoff spot, that is.

Give him the goddamn Hart trophy already. NORRIS IS NOT ENOUGH.

Erik Karlsson, seriously, is on another level. It's not even close.

Brandon, I like your assessment of the game. I'd also add that Turris played really well and that Condon came up huge in the final 5-10 of the 3rd. With something like 34 seconds left and the faceoff in Ottawa's zone, Boucher had Tom Pyatt out there and it didn't bother me one bit. I still really like his play.

Ryan's goals are mostly all flukes, but I'll take whatever I can get.. and I'm pretty sure he will too.

Karlsson's only reasonable competition for the Norris should be Brent Burns. Burns is the Western Conference's Karlsson and vice versa.
