  • Wings @ Senators

Alfie's jersey just got raised. A really cool ceremony with speeches from his brother, Wade Redden, and Alfie himself. All of the Sens players were on the bench wearing one of Alfie's old jerseys, and the Wings roster came out as well and watched it all.

Now a big two points up for grabs.

Great ceremony! It was touching to see his father so emotional...and his youngest sleeping through the entire thing. Who cares, right? ;-)

All in all, Sens did a good job! Alfie! Alfie! Alfie!

    Go Sens!

      His father was very emotional.

I was thinking, one day his youngest son will regret sleeping through that. How much was a 100L ticket to the game? Front row? On the ice ... pricelesss :P

Considering Karlsson lived with them at the time where the oldest was discovering himself and didn't have a 'big brother' to look up to, EK surely played that role in a way. And while his father may be the star in the house, for them, he's their father 1st so they don't see him the same way 'fans' do.

Brassard scores to tie the game 1-1. Just before, Turris hesitated on a chance he definitely should have shot on. He felt so bad that he stayed out for what must have been at least a full minute and probably more. And he was playing all-out and up and down the ice for the length of it. The guy has serious stamina and really holds himself accountable for the team.

Those were the days. Thousands of people outside the arena watching the away game, and then flocked down to Elgin following the win.

Funny enough, one vivid memory I have from then is a commercial I saw. It had Jeremy Roenick talking about how he made the Stanley Cup Finals as a rookie (or maybe just a young age). They lost, but he was excited because he thought he'd be back every year. He never made it again. The Sens have gone on to win one playoff series in the following 10 years.
