Ilya Bryzgalov, who they used a compliance buyout on to buy up SEVEN years.
And the three picks they got from Columbus?
2012 2nd - Anthony Stolarz (http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/p...php?pid=144264)
2012 4th - Taylor Leier (http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/p...php?pid=145165)
2013 4th - Simon Gagné - they traded this pick to Los Angeles for Gagné. He played 27 games for them and scored 11 points.

They should be very proud of what they accomplished. Hopefully they move on quickly from the bump they encountered last night..and pick it right back up. And good for Torts who's silencing all the haters. loll I don't usually like the guy per say but so far this season, I have nothing to say. Most of his media scrums are short and sweet...and professional....and the team is playing awesome.Comment

For those who don't know, I'm a rabid John Tortorella fan. I devour every second of content featuring him, like a hyena on dead meat.
He is incredibly intelligent, thoughtful and insightful, and I've learned more about the game from him than maybe anybody else. Not in terms of facts and figures, but really understanding the game from the ground level; obviously from the perspective of a coach, but also how he transmits information and understanding to his players, and how that relationship plays out.
As a bit of an aside, I come from a pretty conservative family, but throughout most of my adult life have traversed very progressive, radicalist circles. Largely as a result of that, I've swung back and forth from hard right to extreme left and back on a number of occasions. Now days I try to stand outside of any party or ideology and observe objectively.
Anyway, I've long been really fascinated by men who on the surface appear very conservative and masculine, but are actually open to all kinds of ideas and sensibilities. Joe Rogan and Elliot Hulse come instantly to mind, and in the hockey world, Brian Burke and John Tortorella are excellent examples.
I've watched every Tortorella media session all year, and I think this was my favorite so far. Not exactly him at his insightful best, but just classic Tortorella everyone knows and loves. Gave me a good laugh.

Mainly just the one line, "don't talk to me about back to break right now, just ask me about this game, God almighty!"
But also how he talks about Duc, I guess I find his frustration humorous. Not really sure how to explain it. After watching him for years, and remember I'm a Canucks fan, so I've been following him closely for a long time. And like everyone, I very well remember his run-ins with media.
After he was fired by the Canucks, I was not confident he would ever coach in the league again. Then he came back with Columbus this "changed man" with a new lease on life and a whole new philosophy. So when he gets particularly frustrated, it feels to me like a caricature of the old Torts. "Don't Push Me" Torts.
