The Boston Bruins fired coach Claude Julien on Tuesday. Julien, who had been the longest-tenured coach in the NHL, was in his 10th season with the Bruins.
He's still under contract in Boston. They can deny him opportunities to interview with other teams if they choose. They expect compensation if he gets a job elsewhere. Rumour is Boston specifically didn't fire him until Ottawa had their coaching sorted out. Boston doesn't want him getting another job in the division re: Michel Therrien.
