  • 2017 Senators Playoff Talk

I thought this would be a good general thread to talk about the Sens 2017 playoffs. Matchups, injury updates, stuff like that.

The Sens have three possible playoff matchups: vs Washington, vs Toronto, and vs Boston. Home ice advantage for Boston and Toronto and up for grabs, while playing Washington would 100% mean the Sens wouldn't have home ice advantage.

If the Sens win one of their remaining two games (vs NYR, @NYI), they clinch the second seed in the Atlantic and guarantee home ice advantage through the first round

Boston has one game remaining (vs WSH) and Toronto has two games remaining (vs PIT, vs CBJ). If Boston loses their game in regulation, the Sens clinch a division playoff spot. They also clinch a division spot if Toronto loses one of their remaining two games.

Ottawa falls out of a divisional playoff spot (and faces Washington) if the following happens: Ottawa loses both games, Boston picks up at least one point, and Toronto picks up at least three points, OR if Ottawa picks up only one point, Boston wins their game, and Toronto wins their final two games.

The most simple way to put it: win the game against the NYR and clinch home ice, Sens.

      Injury updates:

Erik Karlsson (lower body): Karlsson's return would appear imminent. Dorion said if Game 1 started tomorrow, Karlsson would play, and he hopes he will be in the lineup for the weekend.
Marc Methot (finger): Methot's status is up in the air. He's been ruled out until the playoffs, but Dorion is 'hopeful' that Methot will be available to play in the playoffs. He skated yesterday.
Zack Smith (???): Smith is out until the playoffs. But, similar to Karlsson, Dorion said if Game 1 was today, Smith would play. So expect him to be good to go.
Bobby Ryan (???): Ryan's injury is a mystery. He's not shut down for the season, and he's 'hopeful' for the playoffs.

Sens get home ice advantage and will play Boston or Toronto.

If Boston gets a single point, we play them. If they lose and Toronto wins their last two games, we play them.

Phaneuf, Stalberg, Anderson, Hoffman, Stone and Turris all appear to be staying behind for tmws's game as their gear is in their stall
Boucher remains hopeful to have full lineup for game 1 of playoffs and if Methot isn't ready for gm 1, Boucher is hoping he can go in gm2

So Sens vs Leafs in Round 1 if the Leafs get one point. Battle of Ontario!

If Edmonton wins tonight vs Vancouver and Anaheim loses to LA, we'll also have the battle of Alberta in Round 1.

I just hope that a lot of Sens fans already purchased their tickets........otherwise, it'll turn into a blue sea rather quickly.........meh!

I think I heard that Game 2 is already sold out, while Game 1 has very few tickets remaining.

Game 5 and 7 will probably be up for grabs. I can understand nobody wanting to pay in advance for a statistically unlikely Game 7, but Game 5 will certainly happen. Hopefully those tickets get moved soon.

I like the Sens chances in this series. We swept them in the regular season and they're without Carlo and Krug. I'm sure Burrows is licking his lips at the potential of this series.

I'll go with Sens in 5 or 6.

From what I can see, Game 1 is Wednesday night. Game 2 is Saturday afternoon. Game 3 and 4 are Tuesday/Thursday
