Re: General Sens Talk
I create a GDT when I'm watching the game live on my PC and hope that other members will come post as the game progresses. It's also a way to describe the game to people who missed out on watching it. But I suppose that this thread could be used in place of a GDT, yes.

Re: General Sens Talk
Sens are now seven points out of a playoff spot.
At this point in the season, it's not looking likely they'll make the playoffs. Can they change it around? Yup. Will they? Probably not. They haven't shown much promise aside from 2-3 games at being the elite team they'll need to be to make the playoffs. The defensive gaffes are still there, the inconsistent offense is still there and the goaltending isn't good enough right now to completely win them games.

Re: General Sens Talk
I'm extremely confident they will be able to turn it around. We're not even a third of the way through the season. This team has way too much ability and way too much potential not to start playing like a playoff team. With Zibanejad moved onto the line with Spezza and playing like he deserves to be there, we now have six legit top six forwards. Of course, we now need Spez and Michalek to start playing like it. We're probably still one top four defenseman short, but that could be rectified via trade, especially if we were to move Anderson. Plus the East just isn't all that impressive, if we start playing even close to our potential we'll have no trouble passing some of the teams ahead of us.

MacLean seems to make some really questionable decisions. Putting in Anderson back-to-back days during the Washington - Vancouver games. I get why he did it with Lehner, because he played lights out against Detroit..but Andy was pretty shaky despite beating Washington. We needed five goals to win the game. The fact it took 24 games to scratch Jared Cowen. Scratching Wiercioch for Gryba after a really solid outing from Patty W. Some really weird in-game decisions, too. Against Minnesota, down a goal, he throws out Colin Greening in the final minute. I don't know if he was trying to do some mental game to give Greening more confidence, but the fact is we're down a goal and need to tie this game and he sends out a forward with zero goals in 25 games. Other in-game decisions I've questioned has been how long he's kept the goalies in the game. The Vancouver game is a prime example. Up 1-0, Andy lets in three goals in like six minutes. Instead of pulling him he keeps him in and waits until after the fourth goal and gets run again. Or at least use the timeout to calm the team down and take out some of Vancouver's momentum. I dunno...MacLean has been really questionable this season.
Offensive woes. We need to get the bottom six going. I know a lot of their jobs aren't to score goals, but they have to start chipping in the odd goal. Spezza has been very strange this season. The past few years he really developed his game. He was becoming very offensively responsible, a legitimate threat with a wicked shot and great vision and dirty hands. He also became very dependable in the defensive zone. He's taken steps back since being named captain. His line is trapped in the zone all game. This isn't just his fault, but the centre is usually relied on to be the most defense-active forward on the line. Offensively, he's started to give the puck away again and little woes like that. He takes too much heat, IMO, but he still hasn't been as good as he can be. Michalek is playing alright now, and Zibby is pure beast mode. No complaints for Mac-Turris-Ryan.
Shaky goaltending. Craig Anderson - .894SV% and 3.51GAA. Can never make the big save and lets in weak goals. He reminds me of Brian Elliott right now, which is concerning. I don't know what the hell happened to Andy, but he's a shell of his former play...and I'm not even talking about last year. His 2011-12 season was solid. He needs to get back to that goaltending.
