  • Boychuk leaves ice on stretcher

MONTREAL – Boston Bruins defenseman Johnny Boychuk left the ice on a stretcher after taking a hit from Montreal Canadiens forward Max Pacioretty on Thursday.

Boychuk was battling with Pacioretty for a puck along the end boards in the Montreal zone when Pacioretty checked him.

Boychuk immediately went down and remained on all fours for several minutes while Boston medical staff attended to him before calling for help from the Montreal trainer, who then called for a stretcher to be brought out.

Boychuk was immobilized before being wheeled off the ice after a 10-minute delay.

Pacioretty was assessed a minor penalty for boarding.

Is it me or there is a little ironie in there... no offense to Boychuk and the injury but I wonder if the Bruins fans will ask for Pacioretty's head on a platter..

Someone on HF said Chara should have killed Pacioretty when he had the chance or "finish the job"...

It wasn't even a penalty, it was a hit to the side. Boychuk went in awkwardly and looked like it was something with his ribs or a collapsed lung.

He fell on his arm very awkwardly too. This is going to hurt Boston quite a bit if he misses a lot of time.
