  • Report: Kelly has broken ankle

Boston Bruins forward Chris Kelly is out with a broken ankle, according to Darren Dreger of TSN.

Kelly was injured in the game against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday at TD Garden. There was no timetable given for his return.

He is one of several Bruins who will be out of the lineup when the team takes on the Toronto Maple Leafs on Sunday night at Air Canada Centre.

In addition to Kelly, Boston is without Johnny Boychuck (sprained back), Adam McQuaid (groin injury) and Loui Eriksson (concussion). Shawn Thornton is also out of the lineup. He is suspended, pending an in-person hearing with the Department of Player Safety, for an incident with Penguins defenseman Brooks Orpik during Boston's 3-2 victory against the Penguins. The date of Thornton's hearing has not been set.

The Bruins have called up Ryan Spooner and Matt Fraser from Providence of the American Hockey League, according to a report in the Providence Journal.
