Ian Mendes points out that this could have likely been avoided by keeping Lazar. Bob Lowe was instrumental in the Sens drafting him and is currently in Vegas.

Another option would have been to go with 8 skaters. Protecting Pageau/Smith would have probably been easier than protecting Methot.
