  • Condon extended 3 years

The Ottawa Senators have signed goaltender Mike Condon to a three-year, $7.2 million contract extension.

The deal carries a cap hit of $2.4 million and is backloaded, with Condon making $3 million in the final year of the deal, $1.7 million in the first year and $2.5 million in the second.

Can't complain about this, he was pretty clutch when called upon.

I think this works both ways. Condon gets 3 year security and Ottawa likely gets a discount on the going rate for a goalie of this quality. Remember that Andy is out of contract next year. If he's not re-signed, Condon could be getting a lot of work soon enough.

Exactly. I think Condon could be the future goalie of this team.

#Sens now have 3 goalies, all on 1-way deals, under contract for next season at a total cap hit of $7,950,000.

Not really a big deal in my opinion, especially since this is the final year on Hammond's contract. The Rangers pay more than that combined price for Henrik alone!

Fair enough. But the Rangers are not a budget team like the Sens.

I wouldn't count on Hammond getting anywhere near Ottawa again. If the Sens had the money he'd be bought out. But, we're cheap, so hey play in Bingo.
