I'm not sure the Sens even should target him. Turris and Brassard make a great 1-2 punch at centre, and Duchene isn't very clearly ahead of them. None of them are third line centres, so where would you play them? I'd prefer to go after Landeskog personally.

I think Turris and Duchene are pretty equal but is a step above Brassard. I wouldn't mid bringing in Duchene if it meant giving up White ++

Well definitely if it only meant giving up White and a few other pieces, I'd take him on the team. Just seems like the assets and salary would be better used on a winger, or else packaged with Brassard for a guy who's clearly ahead of Turris.

The only guy that could be would be Tavares which would be doubtful unless we have an amazing season that would ultimately convince him to come.

Really hoping the Sens don't go for Duchene. He hasn't put up 60 points since 2014 and seems like more of a name than a producer at this point.

He'd probably be an improvement over Brassard, but not enough to justify giving up the assets required. The Sens shouldn't be trading for a centre unless it's a number one guy

Another angle to think about - Turris is out of contract at year end. Do we really want to saddle ourselves with Duchene's contract as well? It's been pointed out already, but I don't see Duchene as an astronomical upgrade at either 1C or 2C. This team is not in the business of paying third liners $6M+.

Somewhat related question - how much are we willing to pay Turris? I have no reason to want him off the team, but can we afford him long term?

Why do you think we may not be able to afford Turris long-term?

General cheapness of the owner + looming construction project.

                      Fair enough.

The construction could play a factor. However, Melnyk has shown he doesn't mind forking out money and term to retain assets. MacArthur, Methot and Ryan in one summer.

Turris is going to get 6.5 x 5. Duchene isn't worth 6. They are similar scoring types though.

I think we could lose one of either Pageau or Smith for the simple fact that the contracts would have to be identical going both ways if not in our favour.

                        Smith/Pageau
                        Hammond
                        Ceci
                        2nd/Brown

Over payment but the money is what is going to get the deal done.

                        Hoffman Turris Stone
                        Duchene Brassard Ryan
                        Burrows Smith/Pageau Dzingle
                        Thompson Pyatt/White Pyatt/White

Interesting. I like the look of that. What's Duchene's history with playing the wing? Also, how do the D look minus Ceci?

Chabot Jaros and Claesson most likely will be regulars. Phaneuf will be Our #2.

Ceci’s value to the team at this point is basically that he’s a right-handed shot. However, with Jaroš turning heads, does that make Ceci expendable? A big, right-handed shot who seems to be able to get the job done at both ends of the rink.

Left shots: Phaneuf, Chabot, Claesson, Boro, Oduya
Right shots: Karlsson, Ceci, Wideman, Jaroš
