  • Eichel to sign 8 year deal

8 year contract extension for Jack Eichel in Buffalo is complete. Aav of $10 million per year. - Dreger

He's the real deal. $10M is obviously huge, but it's starting to look like a bargain in today's NHL when McDavid's cap hit will be $12.5M, Price, Kane, and Toew's $10.5M, and Kopitar's $10M. Hell, Lundqvist will have a cap hit of $8.5M at 39 years old..

A bargain if Eichel ends up being what he is supposed to be - and I see no reason to believe he won't. But he's still pretty unproven for that kind of money and term.

To me, it's a low/medium-risk, high-reward contract. He's probably going to be a 70+ point player this season and will be worth it.

I've got him at over a PPG this season. Guy's going to dominate.

Yeah I was just playing a bit of devil's advocate. I expect big things from Eichel. Exactly how well he'll do this season will depend on the team though. And there again, personally, I expect the Sabres to be very much in the mix for a playoff spot.

I dunno if they'll end up playing together, but if so, with a big breakout from Reinhart on the right wing and a bounceback from Kane on the left, and Eichel could definitely break 90 points.
