Anyone recommend good laptops? Something under $1000. I was eyeing a MacBook Pro before but I don't want to spend so much money on the laptop. Something 13"-15" at least. Recommendations?

Re: Laptop recommendation
There are so many different laptop models out there, it's hard to make a recommendation. How will you be using it? Will it mostly sit on a desk at home, or will you actually be using it on the go? If you're mostly going to use it at home, screen size doesn't matter as you can simply plug it into a larger external monitor. Do you want to do serious gaming with it? If so, you need a laptop with a dedicated videocard, not just an onboard card. A lot of people get suckered into buying a lot of RAM... honestly, you won't need more than 4GB. Applications still aren't all multi-threaded, so I wouldn't worry about a 4 or more core processor either. Two cores @ 3.0 GHz would most likely be all you'll need. If you will basically be using it as a desktop computer and you want to do serious gaming, you should consider an HTPC instead. They are like laptops but with no screen, and much cheaper and easier to open up and upgrade the components...

Re: Laptop recommendation
I'm not into gaming that much on the computer and I'll also be taking it to school for notes. When I'm not doing that, surfing the web, streaming, movies, music, etc. plus I have a music program I want to start using and making beats with it, so I need good specs to use that program properly and so it doesn't lag and freeze and whatnot.
