Plekanec is a Maple Leaf

The @MapleLeafs announced that the hockey club has acquired forwards Tomas Plekanec and Kyle Baun from the Montreal Canadiens in exchange for Rinat Valiev, Kerby Rychel and Toronto’s second round draft pick in 2018.

I'm okay with this. Essentially a free 2nd-round-pick since Plekanec will be back on July 1.

4 2nd-round-picks in this draft. They should package a couple of them for another 1st, or in a Pacioretty deal to swing a trade for a guy like Vilardi, Thomas or Kyrou.

yes the majority of Habs fans would want him back in our bottom-6 to be a shutdown veteran leader through the rebuild. It'd just have to be at a more acceptable price.

and because they've already talked about extension and Plekanec had made it known he did not want to be traded, and when it was clear he would be, Bergevin respected his wishes of not trading him to the West despite Winnipeg having an offer on the table for Plekanec that was similar.

Plekanec's going to play his 1000th game in a Habs uniform to open next season.
