Fox regressed this year at Harvard, but it's hard to say how he'll turn out. It's hard not to like this deal for both teams - Carolina gets the better defenseman right now, while downgrading on Lindholm slightly to Ferland, but also taking a chance on Fox. Calgary gets Hanifin who could break out with the Flames and traded Hamilton from a position of strength, while acquiring an upgrade at forward in Lindholm over Ferland.

Hanifin and Lindholm were both 5th overall picks. I think Calgary likes Rasmus Andersson more than Oliver Kylington, so maybe the swap of an RD for another LD makes sense:
