    Washington Capitals forward Tom Wilson has been suspended 20 games for his illegal check to the head of St. Louis Blues centre Oskar Sundqvist in a preseason game on Sunday.


    Washington Capitals forward Tom Wilson was suspended 20 games by the NHL on Wednesday for a blindside hit to the head of an opponent during the preseason.

    I'm glad they finally decided to throw the book at him. It was a really bad play.

      Seems excessive to me.

        If it was a first offender, sure I could see that, but this is a guy who has already been disciplined like 3-4 other times, last time was in the playoffs where he broke a guy's jaw.

        That hit has no place in the modern NHL. Puck's gone. There's no advantage to be gained by hitting him in that position.
