No kidding. It all comes down to a gamble on certain choices. They chose one over another and hope they made the right one.

But in the end, Canada could easily dress up a 2nd team and that team would be just as competitive as the 1st one.

While I think the team with Giroux/St. Louis would have been a better team for sure, scoring goals shouldn't be a problem. There's loads of offensive talent there. I think if anything loses us the Gold medal, it will be the goaltending. Carey Price and Roberto Luongo both scare me. They both are a little mentally weak, and let things go straight to their head.

St.Louis is a playmaker though. Sometimes that can be much more valuable.

If this was referring to when I said scoring goals shouldn't be a problem, I wasn't really referring to goal scorers. I meant that this team should definitely be able to put the puck in the back of the net multiple times each game.

Fleury also showing he has a weak mental game as I type this. Not gonna say anybody would be better in the place of Price/Luongo/Smith, because I believe they're the nations best goaltenders, but their mental games are really iffy at best. Hopefully our amazing defense and very solid forward-core can make up for it.

PS: how amazing is the D-core? The last Norris winner is starting the tournament as a seventh defenseman probably, and was far from a lock for the team.

Take out Carter and sub in Giroux - that's the only real mistake made here. Perhaps Seabrook over Hamhuis, but I know they wanted balance.
