This shouldn't really be surprising to anyone. After realizing how broke Melnyk was, it was clear that his plan was to have somebody else (probably taxpayers) pay for this arena to be built, and the NCC has made it pretty clear that none of this will be the publics money.

I have a feeling we are entering the beginning of the end of Melnyk. Least I think so. Having burnt most, if not all his bridges for future plans in Ottawa, I want to believe he'll get an offer to sell he can't refuse..
