  • Penguins Trade Brassard and Sheahan to Florida for Bjugstad and McCann

The Penguins also send their 2nd and 4th round picks as well as Minnesota's 4th (all in 2019) to the Panthers.

I love this trade for Florida because they now have over 15 million in cap space after this season and can go big-game hunting this summer (Erik Karlsson and Mike Hoffman reunion in South Beach LET'S DO IT). And the Cats have a surplus of picks heading into the draft. And then can flip Brassard or Sheahan if they like. I don't get it at all for the Pens. They gave up three picks to handcuff themselves with Bjugstad's contract for several years. Is anyone that high on McCann? Maybe he has a higher ceiling than I give him credit for? Are the Pens expecting the Crosby effect on Bjugstad and McCann? Josh, hold me.

I don't follow either team all that closely but this does seem lopsided for Florida. I mean, yes, two young kids and two former first rounders but neither has done a whole lot lately?

I'm on the same page. HFBoards seems to think it's great for Pittsburgh but I have no idea why. Florida wins this by a country mile.

Right? How much more success are these guys gonna have with Crosby and Malkin than they did with Barkov and Trochek?
