Seattle Concept

Any thoughts on potential Seattle team name, colors and logo?

The Seahawks have some of the coolest colors in sports in my opinion, so hoped the NHL team would go along those lines. But they might be too similar and clash with their closest division rival, the Canucks.

Best names I've heard so far are Emeralds (for the Emerald City), Rainiers (after a mountain), Evergreens.

The coolest jersey concept art I've seen yet is these ones for Seattle "Totems." I don't like the name though. Just doesn't roll off the tongue.

I like those jerseys a lot. Especially the darker stripes on the green.

I think it will end up being one of the following:

Eagles
Emeralds
Evergreens
Kraken
Sea Lions
Sockeyes
Totems

I like all of them except Sea Lions and Sockeyes.

Word is the NHL isn't big on "krakens." Also I kinda doubt they'll go with any of the fish mascots. The fish ones (Steelheads, Sockeyes) aren't my favorites, but they're not the worst.

Eagles is too simple/done. I wasn't big on "sea lions" as a name either, but those concept logos are really cool.

Emeralds would appear to be the current favorite, given how many and how developed and polished the concept jerseys are.

Of the ones posted here, I am drawn to the black alternate for Emeralds, with the green and yellow stripe and the Space Needle in the logo. Also the teal Sea Lions one is really sharp.

The last one (green with the fish logo) is horrific and I might see this in my future nightmares.

Hahaha, yeah, it's ugly as hell.

Agreed about the black Emeralds jersey, it's my favourite too. Second for me is the Emeralds alternate logo on the Dallas Stars lookalike in the first set of Emeralds concepts.

That black one with the almost superman S is very cool. The green Dallas Stars type one, kinda feels more like a baseball logo to me.

I think my favorite name idea is Rainiers. It is just something you don't see very often. Colorado Rockies. That's all. This was the only Rainiers design I found. The logo is not bad.


I still can't get over what a cool name idea the Minnesota Wild was.

Unfortunately there aren't many good Rainiers concept jerseys yet, so it's probably not catching on. Evergreens is a cool name, but not sure how you make that logo look cool. These ones aren't bad. Kinda boring, but simple, clean; reminds me of the Red Wings logo.


Come to think of it, that one Josh posted under Emeralds, the logo with the mountains and trees - something like that could work for Rainiers or Evergreens.

Oooo, that's exciting. I hope they go with the Seahawks colors.

If Melnyk keeps running the Sens in to the ground, I might need to pick a new team to cheer for eventually...
