Though the Jets have not confirmed any updates to Scheifele's status, TSN Hockey Analyst Aaron Ward says early reports indicate he suffered an MCL injury and will likely out 6-8 weeks.

Many are speculating that his injury is why the Jets did nothing at the deadline. Seems shortsighted to me if they were banking all their Playoff hopes on him, especially with decent depth at his position. They should have made a play for a LW..

Yeah, if your playoff hopes are depending on a 0.5ppg rookie, you probably shouldn't be expecting anything in the first place.

It would be the equivalent of the Sens losing Zibanejad. It sucks, of course, but it's not a season-ender.
