  • Spitfires Ho-Sang suspended 15 games

TORONTO -- The Ontario Hockey League has suspended Windsor Spitfires forward Josh Ho-Sang for 15 games for his hit from behind on London Knights defenceman Zach Bell.

The suspension will take effect at the start of the 2014-15 season.

The incident took place in the second period of Game 4 of the Western Conference quarter-final between Windsor and London last Tuesday. Ho-Sang tripped up Bell from behind, and the defenceman crashes into the boards.

Bell had to be taken off the ice on a stretcher and suffered a broken leg. He is out for the remainder of the OHL playoffs.

Ho-Sang received a minor penalty for the hit.

I don't have time to watch the video, but this clip might have the hit. Let me know if it does.

Yep, at 1:13 of the video...

Now THAT is an appropriate suspension. Ho-Sang crosschecks a guy several feet away from the boards and he goes in feet first. I believe the guy has a broken leg from that play.

I wish the NHL were serious about stopping dangerous plays like the OHL showed here. And the OHL is in playoffs and still handed that out.

How bad is it that players are developing these tendencies in junior hockey and still playing so foolishly when they make it to the pros? They gotta address these issues at all levels and really stem this kind of play.

Well surely part of the problem is that any intelligent teen knows the NHL is very very soft on these sorts of plays.

Huh. Gotta be honest here, I was expecting to see something much worse.
