A year or two too late, IMO. But at the same time, it seems the Penguins are not going to be holding their star players accountable.

Edit: Apparently it's just Shero and not Bylsma.

I guess he hasn't really addressed the Pens' weaknesses positively. Defense, goaltending and their bottom six.

I dunno... I think it's an irrational move. He did address the bottom-six; Goc and Stempniak this year, and Jokinen last year. I guess Jokinen may be considered top-six though. Goaltending wasn't really Shero's fault, or even a problem, really. Fleury can be one of the best for stretches, and they have a backup in Vokoun who would be a starter on most teams. I realize that Vokoun was sidelined with the blood clot thing, but Fleury had a great season and was healthy. In this year's Playoffs, Fleury went 7-6 with a 2.40 GAA and a .915 SV% - he wasn't a problem. In the two games they lost to Columbus, he stopped over 40 shots. He had consecutive shutouts VS the Rangers, totalling 57 saves in those two games, and in his one bad game against them (4 goals against), he still made 30 saves. Their defense isn't terrible by any standard either. Shero was a good GM, able to manage a several superstar contracts and still consistently add quality pieces every year at the deadline. I don't know how many people I read and heard spelling out doom for the Penguins because of how they'd supposedly never be able to keep their core, yet Shero kept in intact. Knee-jerk move in my opinion. I predict the next GM will do very little this summer.
