  • Report: Willie Desjardins to be the new coach

Willie Desjardins will be introduced as the coach of the Vancouver Canucks next week, according to a TSN report.

Desjardins, 57, has spent the past two seasons as coach of the Texas Stars, the Dallas Stars' American Hockey League affiliate. He guided the team to the Calder Cup championship this season; he was named the AHL coach of the year in 2012-13, his first season. In two AHL seasons he has a 91-40-21 record.

He does have coaching experience in the NHL, spending the 2010-11 and 2011-12 seasons as an associate coach with the Dallas Stars.

Wasn't Pittsburgh trying to land this guy? Kind of surprising that he chose Vancouver if so..

Cool, thanks :) I wish they were more specific on what the differences were, but it's for obvious reasons that they weren't.
