  • Ehrhoff bought out

Ehrhoff, who turns 32 on July 6, had seven years left on a 10-year, $40 million contract he signed in 2011 with an average NHL salary-cap charge of $4 million. That summer the Sabres also signed forward Ville Leino for six years and $27 million; Buffalo used its first compliance buyout on Leino on June 18.

Strange move. $4M for Ehrhoff is good. Would have taken him on the Sens..

Agreed. In this days market, $4M for a good offensive defenseman like Ehrhoff is closer to a great deal than a bad deal.

Oh, apparently it's mostly because of the potential cap recapture penalty.
