Honestly a good move (and better than Chris Stewart) if Stafford turns it around or Buffalo acquires a legitimate first-line RW.

Brilliant move by Tim Murray. Spend a lot of money on an absolutely useless player: get to the cap floor and not get a lick better = the perfect formula for winning the Connor McDavid sweepstakes.

In theory, yes. But what happens when some of Buffalo's key players need new contracts, compare their stats to Gionta's and ask for an extra-expensive contract?
