This was a good signing for the Leafs. Robidas is a first-pair guy, and they got him for 3 years at only $3M AAV. He is 37 though..

From what I've seen of Robidas the past year or two, he's more of a bottom pairing guy now. He still hits and blocks shots, but he's too slow to really do much. He reminds me of a veteran Mark Fraser, except he's smarter while Fraser can fight better. Unfortunately for Robidas he also his age going against him and lots of injury problems.

I like the idea behind this signing...a veteran defenseman who is a warrior and brings leadership. But it becomes a problem when you look at the facts: 37 years old, three year term, injury problems, plays a tough style.
