Re: Leafs sign Leo Komarov to 3 year deal/11.8M

My thoughts on the Leafs moves:

Komarov - definite overpayment. This is a player with nine career NHL points. He's shown little to no potential of having any upside in the NHL. He's the definition of a fourth liner, and all he can do is hit often. It's actually a 4 year deal, and has a good chunk of AAV. This one is a bad signing, IMO.

Robidas - decent signing. Obviously the term...you'd rather it be one year or maybe two. But in free agency you overpay a bit, and that's what the Leafs did (term wise). He's 37 already with glass legs. But he's a good veteran presence they needed. I don't know if he's a good signing when you factor in Gleason buyout and him as the replacement, but alone this is a decent signing.

Frattin trade - pointless. The guy will be turning 27 throughout the year and has done absolutely nothing. He was on waivers...he could have been had for free. He had an abnormal shooting percentage to have a decent year one year, but he's fallen back down to Earth and he's fringe-NHL worthy. I thought D'Amigo had potential, honestly.

The Leafs on this free agency reminded me of the EA NHL franchise. They promise change, remove features (players), and bring them back a couple years later.
