  • O'Reilly signs 2 year deal

Center Ryan O'Reilly and the Colorado Avalanche agreed to a two-year contract Wednesday, avoiding a salary arbitration hearing. Financial terms were not disclosed, but Darren Dreger of TSN reports the contract is for $12 million, with O'Reilly being paid $5.8 million in 2014-15 and $6.2 million in 2015-16.

It's definitely up there. The depth is better than Pittsburgh, but having Crosby and Malkin might just automatically put them above Colorado. However, once MacKinnon and Duchene reach their potential, it could be very close.

Although I believe O'Rielly will be traded and I don't even think he plays centre there, does he?

According to leftwinglock.com, the most commonly used line in Colorado was McGinn-Duchene-O'Rielly

Yeah, he could be a C. I think it depends if the team wants to roll two or three scoring lines.
