    Lots of really good stuff in this article but the title quote really caught me. Murray just GETS it...we are all going to miss him when he finally retires.

    You're right - Murray gets it. Whether it was not being able to get the puck out of the zone, terrible giveaways, players getting beat, bad decisions and pinching....the team could not play defense. The goaltending was also sub-par, but the defense was definitely worse. It wasn't just one player, it was the entire defense corps. I can't count how many times we gave up two goals within two minutes and suddenly we were in a rut.

    It's interesting that they're really questioning giving Karlsson the 'C' right now. I think it's a good idea for them to say, "you know what, go out there and show that you can lead by example every night." I think Karlsson is a fantastic player - on both ends of the ice. But he needs more of a consistent effort...sometimes he's caught floating back.

    I also think it's odd that Spezza was named captain despite not being happy for a few years here. Perhaps they thought giving him the 'C' would result in him being more likely to stay...who knows. But honestly, giving the 'C' to someone who's not happy seems like it could just create a toxic environment, which it very well could have.

      Maybe Spezza said "give me the C or I'm leaving right now".

        That could be it. Or the team thought it would help him stay a Senator if they gave him the C. But either way, I just find it odd that they'd give him the 'C', no matter what the reason.

          So the Sens had the second highest amount of turnovers in the neutral zone in the league last year.

          Surprising, they also had the fourth least amount in the defensive zone.
